“The Zinzendorfs and a Living Faith: A Family Affair”

The Countess and Count von Zinzendorf, their children, particularly Benigna and Christian Renatus, and influential associates who serve both in their households and in leadership capacities within the Moravian Church developed and disseminated a unique piety that challenged the religious, ethic, social, and gender orders of their day. Under their leadership this approach to living faith spread throughout Europe, England and across the Atlantic. Wachovia, which was the last community the Zinzendorf’s helped plan, embodied all the unique features of their empowering and egalitarian understandings of Christian life.
