Convo - Convo is a gathering of young people from the Northern and Southern provinces of the Moravian Church. Senior high convo is for those who have completed 9-12th grade in convo years. College age convo is for college-age young adults! Convos for each age category happen every four years.

A Journey To The Holy Land
December 28, 2010 through January 6, 2011
This one, like the last one to Czech Republic and Germany, is very special – and it’s not in the summer. It’ll be Dec. 28, 2010 – Jan. 6, 2011 and the destination is Israel. The last young adult convo went to the birth place of our Moravian heritage. This one will return to the birth place of our Christian heritage! As one who has taken this journey, it will enliven your understanding of the Bible and inspire your faith to walk paths that Jesus walked and see the places where many New Testament passages reflect. What better way to do it than among other Moravian friends? And you should return before the beginning of 2nd semester classes.
OK, granted this trip will be very expensive. But I hope you will prayerfully consider it and talk with your family, church, etc. on what the best way would be to raise/earn money in order to go. It’s worth it. And I’m happy to help any way I can. During Christmas this year, there will be an information session TBA that will answer any questions, etc. that you or anyone else may have. And also, to ease your minds, this trip is SAFE. Tourism is the biggest industry in Israel for both Israelis and Palestinians. You will not go anywhere that is unsettled. There is no more danger of your harm where you’ll be than there is in any American city. There has never been one single incident in all the many trips that the company we are dealing with has led in the Holy Land for all the years they’ve been doing it.
Prayerfully consider being a part. Then talk to your parents, your church, me, etc. If you want to make this pilgrimage, I’m sure many will help you do so.

High School Convo 09 Great Success!!
Almost 50 Southern Province youth and adults traveled to Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota in July for a great experience! Lives were changed with the program, “Follow Me,” offered by Rev. John Wallace. Participants also enjoyed much fellowship, worship, great food as well as a trip to the largest mall in American and a Yankees/Twins professional baseball game. What fun! This convo was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Seeing the sites and feeling the history was inspiring to say the least. All 108 sojourners have returned safely from the 9 or so days of exploring our roots and looking toward the future. We were blessed beyond compare. Worshipping in Herrnhut and Berthelsdorf was indescribable. Here are a few highlights of pictures. More will be posted soon.
Convo 2005 is now HISTORY - and it MADE history!
Everyone from the south made it back home safely, though there were a few airport stories of note. Initial response to this convo is very positive. THANK YOU to those who went. May it be a blessing to you for years to come.

This Convo's mission,
derived from the theme "Learn the Story, Live the Faith," is
to give youth an intensive study in the basics of what the Bible means
for us as Moravians, for it is from the Bible that we learn of the
love of God for all of creation but most especially God's love for
humanity. The Bible also then gives us the word of challenge to not
only accept God's grace but to embody it in the way that we live in
community with all God's children.
- Moravian Youth Convo is for those who have completed 9th grade through those who have just completed their freshman year of college or those who are within a year of their high school graduation.
- Worship and Lovefeast celebrations will be held at Moravian congregations in the Calgary area.
- Housing will be in the residence halls at the University of Calgary. Calgary is located in the Province of Alberta in western Canada.
- The program includes a one-day excursion through the breath-taking Canadian Rocky Mountains.
- Registration fee of $350 covers room, board, and program-related costs. Transportation costs to and from Calgary is additional. Travel arrangements can be made on a regional basis.
