Youth Leader - Youth Leader Sheet

Youth Leader Sheet - Spring 2002

Brad BennettSabbatical - I will be on sabbatical this summer from May 20 until August 26. While I hope that the summer will be "restful," I will also be playing music in Moravian churches across the nation. I hope to widen my contacts with Moravians in other areas as well as visit with some of those I have met at convos, and other gatherings over the years. For an itinerary of the trip, feel free to visit my website - www.brad-bennett.com. While gone, jr and sr high camps will be in the capable hands of the deans and counselors. The counseling staffs look great as well as the programs for the camps. Planning is well underway. Before and after I will be available to you as always for consultation, programs, music, etc.

Regional Youth Council - RYC continues its evolution as it strives to be useful to you and helpful in remaining a connection for youth and youth groups in the province. It's been a good year, but we still struggle with those few representatives who do not remain as active in their youth groups as they should. From discussions with youth leaders, the Youth Commission and the Executive Committee, a help may be instead of electing your council members this spring, perhaps you, as leader, can appoint a representative or two for next year. These "appointees" would be those whom you feel would take their responsibilities to you and your group as a council member seriously. I (along with Exec Members or Commission members) would be happy to sit down with you and your rep(s) to go over it all, too! I'd be happy to hear your comments on that. I'd love to see leaders more involved in it all anyways! So, if you would, consider appointing your RYC reps for next year soon. And let me know who they will be! I'm always available for questions, etc. about RYC.

Interesting Resources - Real Teens. George Barna. Regal Books. ©2001. This is an EXCELLENT resource on modern teenagers. Sometimes Barna can be simplistic in his interpretations of his research, but there isn't much out there this comprehensive on the modern world of the teenager today. Walk On: the Spiritual Journey of U2. Steve Stockman. Relevant Books. ©2001. Good reading on understanding the complexities in today's Christian and secular scenes which always seems to be held in tension in music. U2 is one of the most influential bands in modern music today - be it Christian or secular, and they walk the line in both scenes.

Please consider e-mailing your e-mail address to me! It makes for easier and sometimes faster communication. Thanks!
